Residents of Woodland Ridge enjoy shopping, dining and entertainment, both in Southgate
and its neighboring communities. Dozens of family owned restaurants and banquet halls can
be found here, along with a 20-screen theater. Recreation opportunities abound with golf
courses, ice arenas, in-line rink, and nature center. Southgate boasts nine neighborhood parks
and two community parks, providing venues for seasonal festivals and special events, as well
as both organized sports and spontaneous play. In 2003 residents welcomed the Fun & Family
Fitness Centre to Southgate. Owned by the city in partnership with the Downriver YMCA,
